Cases of Rhabdomylysis

The FDA announced on March 19, 2010, that the SEARCH study shows the risk of rhabdomyolysis is 50 times greater with 80 mg dose of Zocor than with 20 mg dose of the same drug.We believe those taking the 80 mg dose who develop rhabdomyolysis have viable cases against the manufacturer for failure to warn of the existence and magnitude of the increased risk with this dose. Zocor (Simvastatin) is made by Merck, but generic versions of Simvastatin are also available.Vytorin is a combination drug containing Zocor and also made by Merck.  The dose of Vytorin with 80 mg Zocor is identified as Vytorin 10/80. We are interested in providing answers to people who developed rhabdomyloysis while taking Zocor 80 mg, generic Simvastatin 80 mg, or Vytorin 10/80.  If you have any questions, call our office.
