It is VERY important to note all of the information you can about the bus you were riding, including:

- Bus service contact details
- Bus route
- Bus number
- Driver’s name/number
You should try to obtain this information before leaving the bus, but only if the situation allows. If that is not possible, make sure to have this information before leaving the scene.
If there is another vehicle or persons involved in the crash, obtain (if you can):
- The other driver’s name
- The other driver’s contact information
- The other driver’s insurance information
- The other driver’s license plate number and state from which it was issued
- Any witnesses’ contact information
You should also:
- Note where and when the accident took place
- Gather details on the police report or know who to contact
- Take pictures of the accident scene showing the positions of the bus and other vehicle
- Take pictures of the vehicles
- Seek medical attention, even if you feel you may not be seriously injured
